The European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive Recast2010 (EPBD) requires all new buildings to be ‘Nearly ZeroEnergy Buildings’ (NZEB) by 31st December 2020 and that allnew buildings occupied and owned by public bodies aredesigned to the NZEB standard after the 31st December 2018.
A ‘Nearly Zero Energy Building’ (NZEB) means a building thathas a very high energy performance. The nearly zero or verylow amount of energy required should be covered to asignificant extent by energy from renewable sources.
